Questions and answers
Everything you might want to know about Myra
Plain answers about who Myra is for, how verification and daily introductions work, what other members can see, and the tools that keep you safe. If your question is not here, write to us.
What is Myra?
Myra is a dating and introductions service for adults in India. Every member passes a live selfie check before anyone can see their profile, says whether they want a serious relationship, dating or friendship first, and receives five to seven introductions a day with the reasons we think they could get along.
Who can join Myra?
Adults aged 18 to 45 who live in India. Your date of birth is checked when you sign up, and anyone under 18 is permanently blocked from creating an account with that email address.
Is Myra free?
Yes. Every feature is free for verified members. There are no plans, no paid boosts, no paywalls and no upgrade prompts, and nobody can pay to be shown to more people.
How do I sign up?
Enter your email address and type the six-digit code we send you, or continue with Google. Then add your name, who you would like to meet, your intent, the languages you speak and your area, at least three photos and three short prompt answers. Most people finish in about ten minutes.
How long until I get my first introductions?
Your first introductions are prepared as soon as your selfie verification passes, so you do not have to wait for the next day. After that, a new set arrives each morning.
Which languages is Myra available in?
Myra is available in English and Hindi, and more Indian languages are added as each translation is reviewed by a native speaker. Whatever language the app is in, you can list every language you speak, and shared languages are one of the reasons we look for when making introductions.
Can I chat for free?
Yes. Chatting with your matches is free, including photos in chat. You can chat with someone once you have both said you’re interested in each other, so nobody can message you out of the blue.
Which is the best dating app in India for me?
The one that fits what you want. For a serious relationship, check that every member is verified, that you can say what you’re looking for, that your phone number and location stay private, and that the basics aren’t behind a paywall. Our blog has a guide to choosing a dating app in India.
Introductions and matching
How introductions are chosen, what the buttons do and what happens when you match.
Read how introductions workHow are introductions chosen?
First, everyone must pass hard rules: you fall within each other’s age range, you each want to meet the other’s gender, you share the same intent, you live within both of your distance limits, neither has blocked or reported the other, and you have not been introduced before. Among the people who pass, we look for shared languages, shared interests, overlap in your prompt answers and recent activity.
Why only five to seven introductions a day?
Attention is limited. A small daily set lets you read each profile properly and give each person a fair chance, and it means the people introduced to you are not buried under hundreds of others. If nobody passes the rules on a given day, you receive fewer introductions rather than worse ones.
What are the reasons on each introduction?
Each introduction shows two or three reasons, such as a shared language, a common interest or a similar answer to a prompt. They help you decide quickly and give you something real to talk about.
What do Interested, Pass and Not now do?
Interested means you would like to talk. If you are both interested, you match. Pass is final and private. Not now is for when you are unsure or busy: the introduction comes back once, a few days later.
Will someone know if I passed on them?
No. Nobody is ever told that you passed, and you will not be introduced to each other again.
What happens when we match?
Chat opens with suggested openers drawn from both of your profiles. Women can choose to be the one who sends the first message. Either of you can close the conversation politely with one tap, or block and report if something is wrong.
Can I change what I am looking for?
Yes. You can change your intent, age range, distance and languages from your profile at any time. Intent is a hard rule, so changing it changes who you are introduced to. Our community guidelines ask everyone to keep it honest and up to date.
Verification and safety
What verification means, who can see your details and the tools on every screen.
Visit the safety centreWhat does verified mean on Myra?
It means the member passed a live selfie check that matched the photos on their profile. No profile is shown to anyone until that check passes. Verification confirms that a person is real and looks like their photos; it does not confirm their character or intentions, so the usual care still applies.
What happens to my verification selfie?
It is used only for verification and is never shown to other members. It is checked by Myra’s own software on our servers, not sent to an outside company, and a member of our team looks at it only if the software isn’t sure. It is deleted once a decision is made, unless the law requires us to keep it longer. We keep only the result, when it happened and the check’s scores.
Can other members see my phone number, email or date of birth?
No. Other members never see your phone number, email address or date of birth. They see your first name, age, area and city, approved photos, prompt answers, languages, interests and intent.
Can anyone see exactly where I live?
No. Other members see only your area and city. If you choose “Use my current location”, Myra uses your position once to find your area and then discards it; only the area is saved. Distances are worked out between areas, not homes.
What is photo blur?
If you turn on photo blur, your photos stay blurred for a match until you both tap Show photos.
How do I block or report someone?
Every profile and chat has block and report. Blocking takes effect immediately and ends any match. Reports go to a person on our team, with a target of reviewing every report within 24 hours.
What is Share my date?
Before you meet someone, Share my date sends the time, the place and your match’s first name to a trusted contact in a couple of taps. Nothing else from your profile is shared.
What should I do if a match asks me for money?
Do not send it, whatever the story, and report them from the chat. Requests for money, gift cards, investments or trading tips are the clearest sign of a scam. If you have already lost money, call the National Cyber Crime helpline on 1930 or report at cybercrime.gov.in as soon as possible. In an emergency, call 112.
Your profile and privacy
What goes on your profile, how your data is handled and how to leave.
Read the privacy policyWhat do I need for my profile?
At least three photos, each checked before anyone sees it, and answers to three short prompts in your own words. You also choose your intent, who you would like to meet, your languages, your interests and your area.
What makes a good profile?
Specific, honest prompt answers. They are used to find reasons for your introductions and to suggest openers when you match, so an answer that mentions something real about your life works much better than a general one.
Does Myra sell my data?
No. We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the service providers who help us run Myra, under contract, and where the law requires it. The privacy policy lists each of them.
Does Myra use tracking cookies?
Only essential cookies are used unless you agree to more. Measurement and marketing cookies stay off until you choose to allow them, and you can change your choice at any time from the Privacy choices link at the bottom of every page.
Can I take a break without deleting my account?
Yes. You can stop receiving notifications from Settings and simply not open the app; nobody is told how often you use it. If you would rather leave for good, you can delete your account.
How do I delete my account?
From Settings, at any time. Deleting your account removes your profile, photos, introductions, matches and messages. A minimal record of reports and moderation actions is kept only as long as needed for safety and legal reasons, as the privacy policy explains.
Myra Campus
For college students aged 18 and over who want to meet people from their campus.
Explore Myra CampusWho can use Myra Campus?
College students who are 18 or older. Being a student does not change the minimum age, and campus members go through the same selfie verification as everyone else.
How does college verification work?
Enter your college email address and type the code we send to it. Addresses ending in .ac.in or .edu work, as do domains we have added for specific colleges.
Will other students see my college email?
No. Your college email is used only to confirm your college. It is never shown to other members.
What if my college is not recognised?
Ask us to add your college’s email domain from the app. A member of our team checks each request.
Cities, guides and events
Where Myra works, what the city guides cover and how events run.
Browse city guidesDoes Myra work in my city?
Myra works anywhere in India: introductions depend on the distance you set, not on a list of cities. We also publish local guides for many cities, with neighbourhoods, date spots and safety notes, and add more over time.
What are the city and neighbourhood guides?
Guides written by the Myra team for each city we cover, describing first-date spots, how people get around and local safety notes, broken down by neighbourhood. They are free to read without an account.
Can I meet people outside my own neighbourhood?
Yes. You set the maximum distance you are willing to travel, and introductions respect both your limit and the other person’s.
Does Myra run events?
In some cities we host small events for verified members. They are announced in the app first, places are limited by the venue, and they appear on the events page for that city.
