Back to Mumbai

Bandra is where much of Mumbai goes to unwind, and it is one of the easiest places in the city to plan a first meeting. The neighbourhood mixes old bungalows and churches with new cafés, street art on the walls of Chapel Road and two long sea-facing promenades. Because so many people live, work or spend their evenings here, Myra members in Bandra West and Khar often see introductions from across the western suburbs, from Santacruz to Mahim. If you prefer to meet someone who lives close by, set a smaller distance in your preferences and your introductions will focus on people within it. Bandra suits every kind of intent on Myra. Someone looking for something serious might choose a long walk at Bandstand, while friendship-first members often like the energy of Hill Road on a weekend afternoon. Whatever you choose, the area is busy and well lit in the evenings, which makes it a comfortable place to meet someone for the first time. Locals still call the hill above the station Pali, and its winding roads hide some of the oldest East Indian homes in the city.

Where to meet in Bandra

  • Bandstand Promenade

A wide seafront path below Bandra Fort with views of the Sea Link. Busy from early evening, with benches and space to walk. Climb up to the fort ruins for the best view at sunset.

  • Ranwar and Chapel Road

Narrow lanes of old cottages and colourful murals. A slow walk here gives you something to talk about, and there are small cafés tucked between the houses.

  • Mount Mary steps

The basilica and its steps look over the sea. It is peaceful in the late afternoon; dress modestly and remember it is a place of worship for many families.

Getting around

Bandra station on the Western line and the Bandra–Kurla Complex are both close by. Autorickshaws are easy to find, but traffic on Hill Road and Linking Road is heavy in the evening, so walking between Carter Road and Bandstand is often quicker.

Good to know

  • Weekend evenings are crowded. Agree on a specific meeting point, such as a café entrance, rather than “Carter Road”.
  • The promenades empty out late at night. Leave together with the crowd and take a ride from the main road.
