Connaught Place sits at the centre of Delhi, both on the map and on the Metro network. Its white colonnaded blocks form a ring around Central Park, with the outer and middle circles full of shops, restaurants and offices. For Myra members, its biggest advantage is fairness: when two people live at opposite ends of the city, CP is often the easiest place for both to reach. Many people who work in central Delhi offices meet here after work. If you live nearby, in areas such as Gole Market, Mandi House or Paharganj, your introductions will include people from much of central and north Delhi with even a modest distance setting. Connaught Place is busy through the day and into the evening, with plenty of public space. For a first meeting, a walk around the inner circle followed by coffee keeps things relaxed and gives either of you an easy way to end the meeting early if you need to. Its Georgian-style blocks were modelled on the Royal Crescent in Bath.
Where to meet in Connaught Place
Agrasen ki Baoli
A stepwell with over a hundred steps, hidden among office towers a short walk from CP. Calm, atmospheric and a good conversation starter in daylight.
Janpath and the inner circle
Browse the Janpath stalls and then find a café under the colonnades. Busy and well lit until late evening.
Bengali Market sweets
A short ride from CP, famous for chaat and sweets. A casual, inexpensive place to share a plate or two.
Getting around
Rajiv Chowk is an interchange of the Blue and Yellow Metro lines, and the Airport Express stops nearby at Shivaji Stadium. Parking is difficult, so the Metro is almost always the better choice.
Good to know
- People sometimes approach visitors with offers of help or tours near the circle. A polite no and walking on is enough.
- Rajiv Chowk station is very crowded at peak hours. Meet at a named gate number rather than inside the station.
